About The Perryman Family Foundation
established in 2015 by James T. and Rose M. Perryman

We transform the lives of hardworking students in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia, and the surrounding region who have a vision for their future.
Inspired by our founders, James and Rose Perryman, we invest in the people and resources of this region by offering scholarships and mentorship to support motivated students pursuing education in science, engineering, math, metals, technology, and nursing. Our personalized application approach considers the whole student — from their family background and values to the unique challenges they have faced.

Our Scholarships
We offer scholarships to support students in a variety of career paths: trade school STEM programs; undergraduate degrees in engineering, math, metals, and technology; and nursing. Our commitment to student support fosters graduates who are deeply invested in the community. While pursuing academic goals, Perryman scholars receive mentorship and additional programming from foundation volunteers, board members, and a growing network of alumni, including those with deep experience in the manufacturing and engineering industries.
We know that leaders are forged through work ethic and determination, so our application and interview process looks beyond the traditional markers of classroom achievement. We prioritize hardworking students who demonstrate not only academic success but also the grit and tenacity to overcome barriers. To meet the needs of deserving students who may not qualify for typical funding options, we look beyond household income to understand the family’s lived financial situation.
Our Story
The Perryman Family Foundation was established in 2015 by James T. and Rose M. Perryman. Their legacy of innovation and hard work began with the founding of the titanium manufacturer Perryman Company in 1988. That foundation supported not only industrial excellence but also a deep and lasting commitment to the community.
Throughout their lives, Jim and Rose believed strongly in the transformative power of education. As lifelong learners, they recognized how education could open doors, transform lives, and ultimately strengthen the entire region. After years of building a successful company rooted in innovation, the Perrymans turned their focus to giving back. Learn more about our founders.

Our Impact
Since its inception, the Perryman Family Foundation has awarded over $2 million in scholarships to more than 100 students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, metals, and nursing. The Foundation is more than a source of financial aid; it is a network of support, mentorship, and encouragement. Each applicant is considered as a whole person, with attention paid to family background, personal values, and the unique challenges they have faced.
Our Future
Today, the Foundation is managed by the second generation of the Perryman family and operated by the third, all of whom serve as volunteers, continuing the legacy of Jim and Rose with purpose and passion. The fourth generation is also beginning to build a connection to the Foundation’s mission and programming. Together, the family is committed to ensuring that the values of education, innovation, and community support continue for years to come.

As more Perryman Scholars graduate and enter the workforce, they become part of a growing network of community-minded professionals. Their success is a living testament to the Perrymans’ belief that investing in education can power the future of an entire region.
